Interior Design

For as long as I can remember, I have always had two passions: Education and Design. Because serving elementary students and their families was written on my heart from a very young age and could not be denied, I pursued a career in education and served 32 years as a teacher and elementary school principal. During this time, I continued to feed my soul with creative outlets like floral design, art, sewing, and absolutely fell in love with designing, refurbishing, and decorating houses (I’ve lived in at least 10).

I was a principal by day and decorator by nights and weekends. Designing and redesigning spaces in my many homes became my escape from the stress of educational administration and allowed me to express myself creatively. I was often asked why I didn’t decorate and design homes as a job, but my students and my commitment to them always came first. Since retiring three years ago, I have finally been able to pursue my second passion and love for homes and design. I work with my sister, who is also a retired educator, and our favorite thing to do is to elevate a home by creating on-trend, warm and welcoming spaces without breaking the bank. 

With Chesmar Homes of Austin, we have been able to help them do just that and either redesign model homes with furniture and decor from their closed down models or design the interior of their entry level homes with only furniture and decor from local stores like Target, IKEA, or Amazon, allowing all families access to the beautiful design and look of a model home. Making a home feel like a warm hug and a place families want to spend time together is our goal.
